Our fearless attempt ..

Hi guys,

we've been throwing ideas around about making a video for our blog for a while now. WE HAVE NOW DONE IT. It was surprisingly more difficult and more fun than we all expected. Obviously we decided to make a cooking video, in which we made delicious pasta - if it didn't have too much chilli in it. Just a little disclaimer. This video is about entertaining you guys, our lovely readers and also to show you that you shouldn't be afraid to try and cook. Even if you're hopeless like the lot of us.

Things we've learned from our little video project:

1. The saying "too many cooks spoil the broth" is correct. We had 4 people in a kitchen and all seasoning with a dash of chilli for our pasta. Bit a of experiment!

2. Don't buy too much meat, because then you're left with more meat than pasta. We nicknamed our creation a meat salad because of our little extravagance.

3. Food is something that can be shared and be enjoyed by everyone. This includes every process, cooking and eating. We found humour and delight doing this video.

Have a look at our video guys and leave a comment about what you think about it. Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!

JIPPPPP!!:)

Hey Guys Vince here!:)

Today Alicia,Joseph and I all decided to pop down to Eastwood to eat some Korean food!
After walking through the shops on the korean-side, we decided to eat at Jonga Jip( the one near the bottle-shop).

Joseph and Alicia both ordered Bibimbap, whereas I order Al Tang (Fish roe soup).
The Bibimbap is served in a hot stone bowl that cooks the rice, veggies and meat, which allows you to see this process happen before your eyes.

Al tang is simply a broth of Fish roe in a chilli soup with an assortment of garnishes and veggies.

Alongside your orders, you are showered with an array of complementary side dishes which is very nice when you are waiting on your order.
It is also refillable free of charge...which is always a good thing if you still feel a bit peckish.

All in all the service was excellent and the meal was delicious!!
We all agreed on a rating of 3.5/5
For a nice lunch at a nice price!

Thanks for tuning in guyss!:)
Hope post for you again soon!

GOLDEN TOWER!

Hey everyone! Vince here!
And today im going to be telling you where to grab some cheap yet tasty grub if you ever find yourself shopping at Market City ( City near Chinatown).

On the top level of the Market City shopping center, there is a large food court full of many Asian stores. The one that is our main focus today...is the GOLDEN TOWER!!

The dish most served is called "3-choices."

It costs around 8dollars to get this meal deal and with it, you have a choice of either rice or noodles as a base. Then you are able to choose 3 different toppings of your choice! You will also get a bowl of corn-soup as a side, free of charge.

In this picture, I choose the Salt and Pepper Barramundi, Honey chicken and Mongolian Beef!

I rate this meal...3/5 from the price you pay you cant really complain? It does the job of filling you up and preparing you for another hour of shopping at Market City.

As always, thanks for following our posts guys!!
Hope to post more up soon!

You won't get thai'd of this!

Hey guys! It's Joseph again and we've got an awesome update for you guys! We're really excited about this post so lets just jump straight into it! We went to a FANTASTIC Laotian restaurant called 'Holy Basil' located at 233A Canley Vale Road, Canley Heights.

Now something that would be really great to do would be to book your table before coming down here to eat because this place is so good that people line up. So the 3 of us had to wait a while to get in but... It was so worth it. Every single second.

We went inside and it was had nice bright atmosphere. The kitchen can be seen so its quite a treat to see how the food is made! Now lets get right into it before I get hungry from looking at these pictures (drooling already!).

I decided to get the pad thai and bbq chicken! The pad thai was definitely above average and of great quality. I really enjoyed it! The noodles didn't taste cheap; You could actually taste the flavours within the noodles and it was soft and easy to eat. It comes with whatever meat of your preference (e.g. beef or chicken. I got chicken). The pad thai had wonderful flavour! It had a real chilly punch to it as well (custom; can make it chilly or not) which I loved.

The bbq chicken was delicious as well! It had a really beautiful charcoal flavour that allows you to undergo the bbq experience Laos has to offer. The bbq chicken went really well with the sauce.

Vincent decided to eat the red curry roasted chicken. This was a great choice! The duck melted in your mouth and the curry burst with great flavour!

Alicia decided to eat the salt and pepper calamari. This along with the other food we order tasted great! It had great flavour mixed with the herbs and chill sauce they provide.

Last but least, we ordered their famous fried ice cream! Wonderful choice. Crispy on the outside and once you dig your spoon in it and put it in your mouth, the flavours melt all over your mouth. It had nuts on it too which blended well. Beautiful dessert from this restaurant.

We really did enjoy ourselves here and the food was fantastic! We rate this place a strong 4/5!

A pig's breath

Hey guys Vince here!
Whilst we were on our way to pick up my recent win from eBay at Kellyville... we past a particularly different sort of cafe in Castle hill (Towers)...Hog's Breath Cafe!!!

At Hog's Breath, Joseph and I tried the "TOWER FOR TWO!"
It consisted of an assortment of meats (2 rump steaks, 4 lamb chops and 2 racks of ribs), curly fries and salad!

This is a photo of the tower that was given to us!!!
Doesn't it just make your mouth water??

And this is a close-up on the assorted meats!!! Surprisingly this meal wasn't enough for Joseph and I to devour...we wanted moreee!!!!

To be truly honest, the flavor of the meats and the way in which it was cooked...was pretty average...not to mention that it was very expensive reaching to about $65+ for this meal...
As seen in our previous post...i think the pine inn at burwood is a much pretty place than Hog's Breath..!
And so Joseph and I both agreed on a score of 2/5!
Pretty disappointed!

Also here is a shot of a salt and pepper shaker fashioned out of a Corona bottle!
Pretty cool if you ask me!

Once again...thanks for viewing our posts!
And i hope you guys subscribe to our blog for more FOOD 4 THOUGHT!

Laduree we went!

Alicia here!

Finally we decided to line up for half an hour and experience what so many around the world rave about. Some delicious macaroons. There is an area for people to sit down to enjoy a coffee or a tea and really make a moment of it. However waiting for the tables to turnover is almost forever, and we opted to simple line up to buy them to take away.

We bought: pistachio, chocolate, caramel and strawberry. And look how gorgeous the packaging is!

The shell was a little chewy and the filling is incredibly rich and smooth. I found that I wouldn't be able to have all four of these for myself, but having one is so delicious. It's definitely a luxury item for food!

Joseph's Review
3/5 - "The wait did deduct the rating for me. I don't usually like rich food items, but this I did appreicate because it was too sweet and heavy!"

Vincent's Review
4/5- "I loved it, and I prefer it just a bit over Zumbo's macaroons. It has a more balanced taste, and it delicious. However for the wait, I would rather go to Zumbo."

Alicia's Review
4/5- I love macaroons and these are one of the best I have come by in Sydney! However I still love the ones in Paris, but these are great supplements. I would line up to sit down and enjoy them.

I think if you have the time, you should line up and enjoy these delights. But you have to be patient and hopefully you would find it worth it.

Have a look at the first post of Laduree if you haven't already to see what it's like in Paris and the culture of it.

ImPORKtant!

Hey guys! It's Joseph. The three of us decided to check out this Korean restaurant at Strathfield, which is a place known to host a lot of Korean restaurants and outlets. This restaurant is called 'Alrose Garden' at 7-9 Churchill Avenue  Strathfield.

The interior of the place is nice, a cosy and chilled out area. It had music playing so the atmosphere was good. Now this place is known for their famous pork schnitzel! We had to try it out.

The rumours can be put to rest because they are true. This pork schnitzel was huge~! It was really good! Crispy on the outside and when you put it in your mouth, it literally melts. This item is a must if you go. A beautiful gravy like sauce was provided as well and was so delicious to eat with the pork schnitzel!Salads were also provided which was a nice fresh addition to the meal. Refreshes you up. There was a small proportion of rice provided as well. One thing that we thought would make the restaurant better would be more side dishes! Usually Korean restaurants provide great side dishes! This restaurant lacked that appeal.

We also had the fried chicken and it was nice but we didn't get kicks out of it. However there were other items on the menu that we would of really liked to try and we are convinced of going again to try them out! If anything, try out the pork schnitzel. It was really good.

Overall we had an enjoyable experience and rate this restaurant a 3/5!

The most important meal of the day!

Alicia here!

Breakfast, the first and crucial meal of the day. I make so many dates with my friends at Cafe Topiary in Epping. One of the best breakfasts ever! Vincent and I have both tried and we frankly would give it 10/10.

I think one of the most important aspect of this place, is it's ALL DAY BREAKFAST. If you have not had breakfast in the morning or usually skip it, try this place for lunch,an early dinner or brunch! The cafe is really relaxed and there is an open area for the lovely sunny day. For those who appreciate great coffee that isn't Gloria Jeans or Starbucks, this is the place to go even for a coffee to take away. Campos Coffee is so rich and flavoursome, and I never had a bad coffee from Topiary.

Vincent and I have been raving about it, and are determined to drag Joseph there to gorge ouselves. Spanish Benedict is an upmost favourite. It had chorizo, wilted spinach, tomatoes, hollandaise sauce on poached eggs on a delicious sour dough bread!

Everything is so fresh, and so balanced. You are able to change around the menus to suit you, like added hollandaise sauce, side of avocado or hash browns!

It's close to Epping Station, and just an easy 5 minute walk from the station.

Hours:
Sun 8am-4pm
Mon-Tue 7am-5:30pm
Wed-Fri 7am-5:30pm, 6-9pm
Sat 8am-4pm, 6-9pm

Simple, fresh and delicious. There is something relaxing and so enjoyable about catching up over a good meal!

Come ‘meat’ us here!

Hey guys, its Joseph again! We've got a great instalment for you guys… This place actually will rock your socks off. Yeah. It’s THAT good!
The place where we went to was a secluded location in Concord (19 Parramatta Road  Concord NSW 2137). It’s called “The Pine Inn Bistro”.

At first when we walked towards the entrance it did look a bit shady as it was dark. However once you get to the restaurant and check it out, it’s not as bad as it seems because the restaurant is a little hidden! The restaurant’s interior was good, a nice place to have a chat with your mates and enjoy a meal.
Now what makes this place great is that it’s really, really, really worth your money. This place has an awesome ability in delivering their quality/quantity/price ratios. One of the very few restaurants that have the tricky ratio balanced.

This place offers massive meals (content differs from what you order of course) at the price of… wait for it… $10! What you can get ranges from steaks to pork chops to fish to spaghetti! A huge range and they’re all delicious and big.

So the three of us decided to order our meals after contemplating from the difficult choices they offered. Vincent and I got the rump steak while Alicia got the pork chops. We sat down and what surprised us was that the food came out extremely fast!

May I present to you… The pork chop!

And now the rump steak!
(the picture won't flip for some reason, sorry for the inconvenience!)

Now when I said they got their ratios sorted out so wonderfully, I wasn't kidding.
For example, the rump steak meal priced at $10 we got: 2 rump steaks with mushroom sauce, a side of chips and a beautiful salad. I dare say the salad was better than the steak! It’s that good! They have this secret salad sauce and it’s a-ma-zing!

This place definitely is bang for your buck and knows how to present a great meal that you’ll love. For the big eaters as well, this meal will satisfy you. If you’re hungry, on a budget or looking for something cheap to eat and want good food, this is the place for you!

So go to this wonderful little secret spot in Burwood for an experience that you would definitely not want to miss out on! We rate this place a 3.5/5

Angels of the Sea

Vince here!
Any one ever roamed Surry Hills in search of an angel?
I have! and i have found it! Just a short 5 minute walk away from the Central Station!
The "Blue Angel" is a restaurant that fuses Italian fine dining with Strong Chinese flavours, with its main focus on LOBSTERSSS!!

Having a hard time choosing a dish on the menu...I decided to choose the set menu that consisted of a 4 course meal. It starts with Lobster soup as the entree, Lobster Sashimi platter ( includes LOBSTER SASHIMI, oysters, tuna & salmon sashimi, Lobster Patte Italian style), choice of either seafood pasta or garlic pasta, finishing off with a nice selection of assorted deserts!

Let me first tell you that the price for these dishes arent as bad as you think! The key to this is to either find this good deal in the chinese newspaper or ask for the specials menu when you arrive to avoid any discrepancies.

Moving onto the taste... Let me just say that this restaurant provided me with the most freshest lobsters i've ever had! Pretty much half the restaurant is basically a giant lobster aquarium!
But enough of my blabbing on about how good the place is and let me actually show you guys the photos of my experience!

This is a picture of the soup we had with the lobster tail in it! YUM!

and...to the main..attraction!!!

As described before...but i think a picture is worth a thousand words..

And from a more angled point of view!

This one is the seafood pasta!

Whereas, this one is the garlic one! surprisingly after trying both..i favored the garlic one!

And finally...dessert:)!

In my personal opinion this place is a must if you want to try lobster!
It blew my mind and my taste buds and is waiting to blow yours!
For more info here is their website!

Thanks for visiting guys!:) Peace out!
I rate this place 4/5!!

The revolution of FROYO!

It's Alicia here.

If you guys haven't noticed a froyo store where you usually go, then you're definitely in the wrong place. I suggest you to move! If you guys don't know, froyo stands for frozen yoghurt. There are so many froyo shops that are propping up every where, with a range of different stores!

Frozen yoghurt for a snack, dessert, lunch etc.. It has become so popular and I think the range of flavours and toppings makes it a snack of your own.

I usually prefer a fruity yoghurt with granola, fruit,  nectar balls and a chocolate biscuit of some sort.

Vincent likes original or biscotti something a little sweeter topped with chocolate and coconut.

Joseph is has really similar tastes to mine, but he indulges with tim tams and gummi bears.

Some really popular places are called yogurberry, moochi, noggi and praus. They are popping up everywhere. Heaps in the City, Strathfield, Chatswood and Eastwood

If you haven't tried it already, I urge you to do! If you have, I tempt you for some more :)

Plenty of fish in the sea!

Okay maybe that doesn’t apply to everyone but it certainly does to this ‘underwater’ paradise on land! It’s fisherman Joseph here and we’ve just hauled in a great catch for y’all!

Fish here, fish there! Fish everywhere! It certainly is a hotspot for those fishing for a good place to eat! The name of this paradise is ‘Makoto’ which is situated not in Atlantis but at 336 Victoria Ave, Chatswood. This is a Japanese sushi bar who aims to be the “best sushi bar in Australia”. Setting up the bar and raising our expectations high we stormed the front!

We entered with a great first impression of the place because all the workers including the chefs and waiters/waitresses greeted us in unison, shouting something in Japanese to which we could only return a nod and smile.

We sat down on the stools and my oh my! There was literally a sushi train going around with all sorts of exotic and mouth watering plates of delicious seafood. We really enjoyed their approach to offering us food, it literally came to us! Another aspect which was great was that there were chefs in the middle of the restaurant whom make food right in front of you. Exciting to watch and smart as it only gets you more and more hungry!

Now, on to what we all came here for... The food!!! There were all sorts of different types of seafood from your salmon dishes to clams to fried shrimp to little nemo’s (salmon eggs!).

My favourite dish was the salmon wrapped around rice with avocado + mayonnaise + little nemo’s on top! Mmm childhood has never tasted so delicious! This combination was just amazing, the perfect balance between rice, salmon and topping. Just add a little bit of soy sauce and wasabi and bam! You’ll be swimming in your own drool!

Vincent’s favourite was one of the more expensive dishes that consisted of salmon, king fish and tuna slices! Great choice. Thick juicy slices that would just melt in your mouth, making you wipe the drool off your mouth whilst reaching for another plate!

Alicia’s favourite dish was a clam dish dressed some sort of creamy sauce which was absolutely yum yum yum! The flavours swimming in that little pool of deliciousness definitely won the most exotic prize of the night!

Now we can’t forget... the takoyaki!!  It is small balls of awesomeness that explode with sauce and octopus bits in your mouth. This bad boy had all 3 of us drooling and ordering more!

They say fishing is all about patience... You definitely won’t find patience in there, we all couldn’t hold back and helped ourselves!  Best sushi bar in Australia? Maybe. We certainly did however enjoy ourselves there and we certify it as a ‘big fish’ in Sydney!

We rate this place a strong 4/5 and definitely recommend it for all to try! A great catch awaits you!

Crispy on the outside...Melted on the inside

Hi this is Vincent here! And if you've been to the Easter Show this year, i'm sure you can guess what food i'm talking about today! Yes it is Cheese-on-a-stick!

Even though, this blog is all about a fine and exotic experience...we cannot forget the little things that also excite our taste buds.
Especially these little fried sensations that have a crispy coating that sounds a hot melted cheesy center! It's only until u reach the gooey center that you realize that you have been missing out all this time.

As you can see from the anticipation on my face...cheese-on-a-stick is truly to die for!
And i encourage all that have not enjoyed this amazing way of eating cheese, to go down to the Easter Show next year and try it!

The strong whispers of Ladurée

It's Alicia here, and I have been hearing fabulous things about the new pop up macaroon store in Pitt Street Mall - Ladurée! Vincent, Joseph and I are planning to pop in there very soon, but I thought it'll be cool to know a little bit more about it!

I have had the pleasure of trying these tasty and fabulous macaroons in Paris, where Laduree is had initially established itself in 1862. It was like art when I first saw them, because they were so delicate and beautifully displayed. They look like food for of the Gods. I love the smell of bakeries and it definitely lures me in. Pastries and baking are an important aspect in French culture, and because it is so important I think the quality of the the food is a lot better. Below are the picture from Ladurée to show you just how amazing and grand the place is (and some amazing shots of macaroons where there is no crown in front of it!).

The beautiful patisserie

This is just one of the many amazing macaroons they create, where it is just more than a ganache as the filling. It's a sculpture!

My favourite was the chocolate macaroons with the chocolate ganache. I am a big sucker of anything chocolate and I just felt as if I was in heaven. The packaging is amazing and it's an artform. Every little touch is beautiful and amazing. (Below is my little package)

I do have concerns with the new store in Sydney, as it isn't the same in Paris because the atmosphere is not the same with going in a patisserie and seeing all the range of macaroons they create. I think the range will be mainly the basic ones, however they are absolutely delicious also. There have been many other countries that Ladurée has established themselves (London and Japan) and it has been a hit. Joseph told me that there was a huge line for Ladurée and people were waiting hours, so I'm sure it will be worth it. I have only heard such wonderful things from friends who hav tried it and the hype has been buzzing around. It seems the wait is well worth it, anything for a little taste of Paris!

For more details you can go to to Ladurée's website: http://www.laduree.fr/en/scene
Or you can go visit Pitt Street Mall in Sydney!

So easy to get to, just catch a train to Town Hall station and you're there.

Let the adventure begin!

Food is something so describable and mystical. As it something that brings people together...something that is universal...something that is alive. The taste of food differs in every continent, every country and every restaurant, however it is with this difference that society can be brought together.

Whether it's a simple stop-eat-and-go, dinner with your loved ones or simply a night on the town with your mates, its food that is there every time to meet us...most of the time she is warm and loving...sometimes she is cold, neglected and yucky. Whatever the case, she'll always be there and it is with this blog, " Food 4 Thought" that we will record and share with you our experience of this wild muse.

Join us, your hosts: Vincent, Alicia and Joseph, on this journey as we explore Sydney and its surroundings for what it has to offer. Our passion and indulgence for food will shine through in our blog posts.

Our blog is about our experiences and our opinions, and we hope it will inspire/encourage you to try some of these restaurants. We will include photos of the food and the places we will explore. Even including the tiny details of how to get place!

Alaskan Bomb
Thai green curry with roti

Above is just some photos to give you a bit of an idea of what we are about!  Let the f4t adventure begin!!

Introduction to our Food Blog

Our Topic:

We (Alicia, Joseph & Vincent) have decided to make a food blog to document our food experiences and share it with others. It will consist of reviews and opinions on food and what Sydney has to offer. May also include a hint of international food as our inspirations.

Our layout:

Essentially we want something clear and interactive for our users so they can be engaged and able to navigate around easily. Our passion for food is our main idea and focus of our blog. We kept it simple with the layout, with a white background to enhance the writing and red banner at the bottom to accent the blog. Red is known to generate feelings of hunger, like McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut has used red in their logos. We think it's generating some form of emotion and connection with our audience is imperative. The font is just in Arial to have it simple and clear to read. The poll that we've added is to have readers share their opinions, and we may in the future have blog posts about the poll. Furthermore, avid readers are able to follow us if they're interested in our blog to keep updated. The 'About Me' section is to know a little more about us (Alicia, Joseph and Vincent) but we want to keep it brief because our personalities and passions will be seen through our blog posts. The 'Blog Archive' is just for users to find our other blog posts easier and to show them the different blogs we've posted. It keeps it properly archived and it's simple to use. Finally the slide show we've incorporate is though keyword search of 'food' from a search engine, to show different forms of food and inspiration that other people post up, and also for us and the audience to gain inspiration from.

Refer to the picture below to see how we set up and planned our blog.
